How we help
The Life Cadets helps young people explore different life pathways by giving them real experiences and opportunities.
That might mean trying something new, meeting people working in different careers, or getting a chance to see what a particular job, trade, sport or creative path is really like.
You don’t have to know what you want to do yet. Exploring is part of the process.
Who can take part
At the moment, The Life Cadets is focusing on supporting young people who are living in children’s care homes.
If you’re interested in taking part, someone from your care home, school, or guardian organisation will need to contact us on your behalf.
How we help
Start the conversation
A staff member from your care home or organisation gets in touch with us.
Explore your interests
We talk about what you’re curious about, even if you’re not sure yet.
Try real experiences
You get the chance to take part in Life Cadet Initiatives and see what suits you.
What we ask from you
We know that young people in care may not have had the easiest start in life.
All we ask is that you:
-
Are willing to look forward, not back
-
Are open to trying new things
-
Have a go, even if you’re unsure
-
Keep going and don’t give up on yourself
You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to be willing to try.
A few important things
-
There are no uniforms, ranks or drills
-
This is not school
-
This is not about being judged or tested
-
It’s about helping you find what works for you
Everyone’s pathway is different, and that’s okay.
Interested?
If you think you might like to take part, speak to a member of staff at your care home or organisation and ask them to contact us.
